Leeds A and Barnsley Aces win Summer 2025 Online League

Congratulations to the Leeds A and Barnsley Aces teams who have won the first and second divisions respectively of the latest edition of the Online Yorkshire league.    The Aces lost only one of their nine matches and averaged 15.00 compared with the 14.25 and 14.13 achieved by the Sheffield teams in second and third places (who each had a bye round so played only eight matches).    It was much closer in the first division, where a big win in their final match saw Leeds overtake their rivals to take the title  by three points from Sheffield B and five from Malton A.

The organisers would like to thank the match secretaries and team captains for their hard work in recruiting teams,  liaising with team members and opponents and setting up matches, and everyone who took part as a player.    In all 23 teams played 99 matches and all were completed by the final match day with only one postponement that we are aware of.   A great achievement!

In the first division eight of the ten teams preferred to play their home matches on RealBridge with two choosing BBO.    In the second division eight of the thirteen teams opted for BBO.     There appears to be a trend towards RealBridge, perhaps as online players generally become more familiar with the platform.

The next staging of the Online Yorkshire League will be the Winter 2026 season with match days on Sundays 3th and 18th January 1st February.    Make a note in your diaries now!
