Yorkshire Congress – Pairs (York Bridge Club)

Entries are now open for the Yorkshire Congress to be held once again at York Bridge Club on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th June 2023. Timings and entry fees are attached. All events are Green Pointed and tea and coffee is free for the whole Congress.
Match Pointed Pairs on Saturday 10th June will follow on from our AGM which is at 11am – where all are welcome. Please advise our Secretary, Dani Sissman, if you are attending. Play will commence at 2:00pm with a break at 5.15pm for a Complimentary 2-Course Supper.
Sunday 11th June will be Multiple Teams starting at 11.30am with a break for lunch. If you are intending to have a sandwich lunch which is available, this is not provided by us but by the caterer for the weekend and will cost £7.80, which includes sandwiches, crisps & cake, together with tea and coffee. SUGGESTED PLACES TO STAY IN YORK
York is a major attraction for tourists with more than 8 million visitors a year. For anyone who needs to stay overnight there is a wide range of hotels and other accommodation to choose from.
The York Bridge Club itself is in an area in Acomb just off an area called The Green and behind a road called Ridgeway. Post code YO26 5FG
Below is a small selection of options available with the approximate distance and travelling time to the York Bridge Club in the suburb of Acomb.
Travelling by train?
Suggested accommodation would be the Premier Inn in Blossom Street, York. This is approx 5 mins walk from the train station. It has both the No5 or 5a bus (orange line) stop opposite. This bus goes directly to Acomb (Use the Front Street Stop) and the bridge club is approx 5 mins walk from the bus stop in Acomb. And also the number 1 bus (green line) which also stops in Acomb.

Not worried about staying in the centre of York and have transport available? Try :
Premier Inn (York North West) which is also a Beefeater (address York Business Park, White Rose Close, YO26 6RL). It is just off the ring road about 5-10 mins drive away and has plenty of parking and is easy to find.
There is also Premier Inn at York North.

Best Western Kilima, Holgate Road. YO24 4AZ 1.5 miles, 5 min drive

If you use Tadcaster Road accommodation, the quickest route to the club will be to head out of York to the outer ring road (A1237 towards Harrogate) and continue to the Wetherby Road roundabout turning right back towards the city centre. After crossing a mini roundabout, turn left beside the car wash/Pizza Hut and continue along this small road until you round a corner and see the bridge club entrance on the right.
