As part of the Festival of Bridge week, a Golf/Bridge day on Friday 13th! was organised by Mark Dunkley and Alastair Davidson on behalf of the YCBA.
Beautiful weather arrived for the golf and 3 fourballs teed off. Michael Pointon and Steve Smith won this part of the competition with a score of 39 points.
After a lovely lunch, the bridge started with an all play all Howell. The winners of this were Martin Edge and Nick Woolven who were the overall winners after combining the golf and Bridge scores.
A great day was had by all with the hope that this may be a fixture in the calendar every year. Our thanks to Thirsk and North Allerton Golf club who provided a lovely course, good food and accommodation for the bridge. Also to Jim Edwards who very kindly agreed to direct.

The 2024 season of the Northern Bridge League
The match days in 2024 will be Saturdays 13th July, 17th August, 14th September and 19th October. We will post here a short report on the outcome of all of these matches.

As part of the Festival of Bridge week, the EBU held a handicapped pairs event on Sunday involving 12 clubs and 234 pairs. The winners were Lesley Bridson and Catherine Thompson who played at Harrogate, whilst 3rd place went to Barbara Adam and Bill Ewart, who played at Wakefield. Congratulations to both these pairs on a great result.

Once again, by popular demand, the YCBA are running a Club Tournament Director Training Course with Barrie Partridge, to be held at Sheffield Bridge Club.
This is supported by the YCBA Bridge Development so the entry is FREE.
The course will run on 3 consecutive Saturdays, the 19th, 26th October & 2nd November, starting at 10.30am and finishing at 5.30pm with a break for lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided but attendees will be responsible for their own food.

David Robinson, partnering Tony Sowter (together with Malcom Pryor and David Kendrick) has qualified to represent England Seniors at the World Bridge games in Buenos Aries in October.
